Rebecca (Becky) manages the day-to-day operations of Green Ink, ensuring client needs are met and projects are delivered to an exceptionally high standard. Becky oversees both our project management and quoting/tendering processes and is responsible for delivering projects and ensuring clients are delighted with the results. She also provides advice to our clients based on her deep experience of communications, acquired over more than 20 years spent working in all aspects of publishing.


General Manager

Pete has worked in publishing with several high-profile organizations over more than three decades. He joined Green Ink in 2015 as our Production Manager, a role he held for more than five years before taking over the management of our quotes. Pete understands all the issues that can arise with communications projects and can therefore provide clients with clear and detailed quotations.

With more than 20 years’ experience in finance, Heather keeps Green Ink’s books in order. She is responsible for our invoicing and our back-office finance systems. Heather has a degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of St Andrews, and an accountancy qualification from the Association of Accounting Technicians.

Writers and editors

Core team

Guy is an excellent copy-editor with a particularly sharp eye for proofreading. He has been responsible for some of our most high-profile projects, including multiple reports for United Nations agencies. His area of expertise is natural sciences, especially agricultural research and development, and forestry, and he holds a degree in Zoology. Guy worked as a freelance writer and editor prior to joining Green Ink. He has lived in various African countries for many years and has travelled extensively on assignment for us. He is an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP).


Science Writer/Editor

Markus joined Green Ink at the beginning of 2017. He has an PGCert (with distinction) on an MSc programme in Science Communication and Public Engagement from the University of Edinburgh and a CertHE in Biomedical Science from Anglia Ruskin University. He has over 20 years’ experience as a writer, reporter, editor and photographer. He has a strong track record in science writing and editing, particularly in the fields of health and medicine. His experience relates to print and online publishers, commercial science clients, charities and professional associations, and spans the full range from explanations for lay audiences to technical documents for highly scientific readers. He also has considerable journalistic experience, writing news pieces and material for the web including blogs and podcasts. He has experience in writing comprehensive but easy-to-use medical information for popular websites and worked on weekly news-led trade magazines for medical professionals.

Sue has a BSc in Environmental Science and has been with Green Ink since 2000. Sue is a gifted writer and editor and a diligent proofreader. She has particular subject experience in writing about topics related to sustainability. While at Green Ink, Sue has handled key projects covering international development, water resources and climate.

Jane joined Green Ink in 2012 and is a highly qualified writer and editor with more than 25 years’ experience in covering public health issues at the international level. She has a BSc in Human Development and Family Studies from Cornell University and a master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) in the area of maternal and child health, with a speciality in international health, from the University of California at Berkeley. Jane has focused on the issues around women’s health as well as maternal and adolescent health, and sexual and reproductive health, including everything from family planning and STIs, HIV and cervical cancer, to FGM, gender-based violence and related human rights issues. Clients rely on her subject knowledge to flag up any issues when reviewing text, and on her ‘eagle eyes’ during editing and proofreading. Having studied statistics and epidemiology, Jane is also happy writing and editing data charts and tables. Jane is a dual US–UK national who has also lived in Cyprus, India, Indonesia, the Netherlands, Tanzania and Thailand, and so is very comfortable working with people from different backgrounds and cultures. Most of her work with Green Ink has involved editing reports and guidelines for the World Health Organization and other clients in the public health arena. Jane has a particular skill in extensive substantive editing and re-writing of highly technical documents. Jane has also written many reports, including grant proposals, survey and study reports, project reports, manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and health technology assessment reports, all involving substantial literature review and analysis/interpretation.

With more than a decade of experience in the UK and Hong Kong as a writer and editor specialising in science and nature, Jess is passionate about communicating science to make it accessible to any audience. Jess has a BSc in Zoology from the University of Southampton, an MSc in Advanced Methods in Taxonomy and Biodiversity from Imperial College, London, and a Graduate Certificate in Science Writing from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. She enjoys distilling complex information into concise, engaging and readable text and is able to respond to the varied needs and priorities of diverse clients. Jess specialises in content involving biological, health and nature, and environmental issues. She is enthusiastic about working with clients from different global regions and backgrounds.

A writer and editor with a solid academic background in human development, education and communications, Charlotte has worked extensively with the World Health Organization. She is a strong communicator with exceptional organizational skills. She holds an MA in Mass Communication from Northwestern University and a BSc in Human Development and Family Studies from Cornell University. She is a passionate believer of the power of words to change the world, and has more than 20 years’ experience as an editor of health technology assessments, policy briefs, annual and country reports, guidelines, manuals and workshop materials for international development agencies and other clients.

Eilidh has a solid background in editorial work, gained in various in-house roles. She has a degree in Biomedical Sciences (pharmacology) and has worked as a freelance editor for over ten years. She has a wide range of experience in medicine, health and the environment.

Mary is a highly experienced scientific and technical copy-editor who also has writing experience, having spent part of her career as a technical author. She has a strong scientific, technical and medical background and is confident working on material in most of Green Ink’s subject areas. Her degree subject was biology (with rural science).

Anne is a PhD-qualified scientific editor with five years’ experience in proofreading, sub-editing and copy-editing in the fields of life sciences and clinical sciences, energy management, and healthcare, public health and medicine.

Maria is a passionate yet down-to-earth sustainability and communications professional with ten years of international experience. She has an MSc in Environmental Science, Policy and Management (with distinction; her thesis was on climate change adaptation in Pacific Island Developing States) and a BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a focus on international relations and environmental policy. In addition to her background in environmental sciences and policy, she has professional experience in clean energy financing and sustainable development, gained while working for the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership. She also enjoys working on anything related to conservation. She is fully bilingual in English and Dutch and has a working knowledge of French, German, Italian and Spanish. She has recently conducted a technical/substantive edit on the African Development Bank’s Climate Change and Green Growth annual report.

Lisa has recently completed an MSc in Science Communication and Society and has many years’ experience working in scientific publishing and communications. Her knowledge covers a range of therapy areas including dermatology, gynaecology, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, psychiatry and urology, with a particular expertise in cardiology and women’s health.

Jon performs copywriting, editing and proofreading for a wide range of Green Ink clients on a variety of subjects, including economics, the environment, health care, international development, sexual and reproductive health, and social policy.

Core team

Paul joined Green Ink in 2004 and is our design guru; as well as providing creative guidance on many impressive projects for prestigious clients, he was responsible for designing and building this website. Paul’s specialisms include digital design, website coding and database development as well as graphic design and layout. Prior to joining Green Ink, Paul managed print and digital media for the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Nigeria. Paul holds a BA in Photography, film, video and animation, and he is an excellent photographer.

Christel is an experienced graphic designer, working mostly on hard-copy format products. She is a fluent German and English speaker and has a particular expertise in managing multi-lingual design and layout. She has produced clean and elegant designs for a number of major international reports (e.g. for GWP, IITA and WHO). Christel is also a co-founder of the business and has worked with Green Ink since its inception in 1998.

Lulu is our Chinese translator with a particular expertise in issues around public health, medicine and women. She has over 15 years’ experience and has a medical degree plus an MA in Women’s Studies.

Marina is a highly experienced (30+ years) freelance translator, specialising in Russian. She has considerable knowledge across a wide range of disciplines, working with many different sectors of business and industry, as well as with legal and education professionals, including FAO and WHO.

Maryck, a native French speaker, has been a full-time freelance translator for more than 30 years, having both academic and professional qualifications for translation and proofing from English into French, including a Dip.Trans, MITI. In 1992, she became a fully qualified member of the UK’s Institute of Translators and Interpreters and since then she has steadily built up a solid and prestigious client base Europe-wide, mainly through recommendation. Maryck has worked with Green Ink since 1996.

Aziza handles our Arabic translations and has over 25 years’ experience working for international organizations including FAO, UNDP, UNICEF and WHO. Aziza has a BA and MA in Linguistics and Translation, plus a PhD in Critical Discourse Analysis.

Born in Spain and educated in British schools, Natalia is a native speaker of both Spanish and English. She handles most of our Spanish translations and holds a Diploma in Translation from the Institute of Linguists. She has more than 25 years’ experience in translation, specializing in development, the environment and current affairs.

Born of Spanish parents, raised and educated in France, Isabelle is a bilingual native speaker of both Spanish and French. She is a professional translator, proofreader and interpreter, working from English into French and Spanish. She has significant project management experience and has worked as a coordinator of large translation projects in French, Spanish and Portuguese. Isabelle specializes in topics involving development and aid, human rights, the environment and agriculture. She holds a Maîtrise in Applied Foreign Languages (AFL) from the University of Perpignan, France.

Simon founded Green Ink in 1998 to promote the communication of scientific knowledge related to agriculture in the developing world. Simon has retired from the business but, as Green Ink’s President and Founder, he retains an advisory role. He holds a degree in Modern Languages.
