With more than 20 years’ experience in finance, Heather is responsible for keeping Green Ink’s books in order. She is responsible for our invoicing as well as for our back-office finance systems. Heather has a degree in mathematics and statistics from the University of St Andrews and has an accountancy qualification from the Association of Accounting Technicians.


Finance Manager

Pete is responsible for delivering projects and ensuring clients are delighted with the results. He has worked in publishing for more than three decades with several high-profile organizations and joined Green Ink in 2015. He understands all the issues that can arise with communications projects and is able to guide projects through to successful delivery.

Core team

Guy has been with Green Ink since 2012 and is one of the most experienced members of the team with more than 30 years of experience. Guy holds a degree in Zoology and is an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP). He is an experienced writer and excellent copy-editor with a particularly sharp eye for proofreading. He has been responsible for some of our most high-profile projects including multiple reports for UN agencies. His area of expertise is in natural sciences, especially agricultural R&D and forestry. Guy worked as a freelance writer and editor prior to joining Green Ink. He has lived in various African countries for many years and has travelled extensively on assignment for us.

Markus joined Green Ink at the beginning of 2017. He has an PGCert (with distinction) on an MSc programme in Science Communication and Public Engagement from the University of Edinburgh and a CertHE in Biomedical Science from Anglia Ruskin University. He has over 20 years’ experience as a writer, reporter, editor and photographer. He has a strong track record in science writing and editing, particularly in the fields of health and medicine. His experience ranges across work for print and online publishers, commercial science clients, charities and professional associations and stretches the full range from explanations for lay audiences to technical documents for highly scientific readers. He also has considerable journalistic experience, writing news pieces and material for the web including blogs and podcasts. He has experience in writing comprehensive but easy-to-use medical information for popular websites and worked on weekly news-led trade magazines for medical professionals.

Sue has a BSc in Environmental Science and has been with Green Ink since 2000. Sue is a gifted writer and editor and a diligent proofreader. She has particular subject experience in writing about topics related to sustainability. While at Green Ink, Sue has handled key projects covering international development, water resources and climate.

Jane joined Green Ink in 2012 and is a highly qualified writer and editor with more than 25 years of experience in covering public health issues at the international level. She has a BSc in Human Development and Family Studies from Cornell University and a Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) in the area of maternal and child health, with a specialty in international health, from the University of California at Berkeley. Jane has focused on the issues around women’s health as well as maternal and adolescent health, and sexual and reproductive health, including everything from family planning and STIs, HIV and cervical cancer, to FGM, gender-based violence and related human rights issues. Clients rely on her subject knowledge to flag up any issues when reviewing text, and on her ‘eagle eyes’ during editing and proofreading. Having studied statistics and epidemiology, Jane is also happy handling, checking and writing about charts and tables of data. Jane is a dual US–UK national who has also lived in several other countries, including India, the Netherlands, Cyprus, Thailand and Tanzania as well as Indonesia, and so is very comfortable working with people from all different backgrounds and cultures. Most of her work with Green Ink has involved editing reports and guidelines for the World Health Organization, and other clients in the public health arena. Jane has a particular skill at extensive substantive editing and re-writing of highly technical documents as well as writing. Jane has written many reports including grant proposals, survey and study reports, project reports, manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, and health technology assessment reports, all involving substantial literature review and analysis/interpretation and write-up of data. She has lived in several countries, including many years in Indonesia.


Science Writer/Editor

With more than a decade of experience in the UK and Hong Kong as a writer and editor specialising in science and nature, Jess is passionate about communicating science so that it is accessible to any audience. Jess has a BSc in Zoology from the University of Southampton, an MSc Advanced Methods in Taxonomy and Biodiversity from Imperial College, London, and a Graduate Certificate in Science Writing from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. She enjoys distilling complex information into concise, engaging and readable text and is able to respond to the varied needs and priorities of diverse clients. Jess specialises content involving in biological, health and nature, and environmental issues and is enthusiastic about working with clients from around the world and works well with people of all different backgrounds.

A writer and editor with a solid academic background in human development, education, and communications. Charlotte has worked extensively with the World Health Organization and holds a BSc in Human Development & Family Studies. A writer/editor with almost twenty-years experience, she is a strong communicator with exceptional organizational skills. She holds an MA in Mass communication from Northwestern University and a BSc in Human Development & Family Studies from Cornell University. She is a passionate believer of the power of words to change the world with more than 20 years’ experience as an editor of health technology assessments, policy briefs, annual and country reports, guidelines and guidances, manuals and workshop materials, etc., for international development agencies and other clients.

Eilidh has a solid background in editorial work, gained in various in-house roles. She has been a freelance editor for over ten years. She has a wide range of experience in various subject matters (including medicine, health, and the environment) and a degree in biomedical sciences (pharmacology).

Lisa has recently completed a MSc in Science Communication and Society and has many years’ experience working in scientific publishing and communications. Her experience covers a range of therapy areas including neurology, psychiatry, gynaecology, dermatology, urology, ophthalmology and oncology, with particular expertise in cardiology and women’s health.

Marissa has a PhD in Marine Geology as well as research and lecturing experience in earth and environmental sciences and policy experience in natural resource management (soil health and sustainable farming). She also has experience at writing and editing content across climate change, renewable technology, sustainability and ecology.

Maria is a passionate yet down-to-earth sustainability and communications professional with ten years of international experience. She has a MSc in Environmental Science, Policy and Management (with distinction, her thesis was on climate change adaptation in Pacific Island Developing States) and a BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a focus on International Relations and Environmental Policy. She has a background in environmental sciences and policy, professional experience primarily in clean energy financing and sustainable development and enjoys working on anything related to conservation. She is an experienced communications professional with a broad academic background in environmental sciences and policy. She is fully bilingual/native in English and Dutch and has basic working knowledge proficiency in Spanish, Italian, French and German. She has considerable climate change and renewable energy knowledge from working at REEEP, including developing annual reports and concept notes. She has recently conducted a technical/substantive edit on the African Development Bank’s Climate Change and Green Growth annual report.

Mary is a highly experienced scientific and technical copy-editor who also has writing experience, having spent part of her career as a technical author. She has a strong scientific/technical/medical background and is confident working on material in most of Green Ink’s subject areas.  Her degree subject was biology (with rural science).

Paul joined Green Ink in 2004 and is our design guru – and as well as providing creative guidance on many impressive projects for prestigious clients, he was responsible for designing and building this website. Paul’s specialisms include digital design, website coding, database development, as well as graphic design and layout. Prior to joining Green Ink, Paul managed print and digital media for the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Nigeria. Paul holds a BA in Photography, film, video and animation, and he is an excellent photographer.

Christel is a qualified graphic designer, working mostly on hard-copy format products. Her specialisms are illustration and logo design. She is a fluent German and English speaker and has a particular expertise in managing multi-lingual design and layout for major international reports. Christel is also a co-founder of the business and has worked with Green Ink since its inception in 1998.

Lulu is our Chinese translator with a particular expertise in issues around public health, medicine and women. She has over 15 years of experience, and has a medical degree plus an MA in Women’s Studies.

Marina is a highly experienced (30-plus years) freelance translator, specialising in Russian. She has considerable knowledge across a wide range of disciplines, working with many different sectors of business and industry, as well as with legal and education professionals, including FAO and WHO.

Maryck, a native French speaker, has been a full-time freelance translator for more than 30 years, having both academic and professional qualifications for translation and proofing from English into French, including a Dip.Trans, MITI. In 1992, she became a fully qualified member of the UK’s Institute of Translators and Interpreters and since then she has steadily built up a solid and prestigious client base Europe-wide, mainly through recommendation. Maryck has worked with Green Ink since 1996.

Aziza handles our Arabic translations and has over 25 years of experience working for international organisations, including FAO, UNDP, UNICEF, WHO, among others.  Aziza has a BA and MA in Linguistics and Translation, plus a PhD in Critical Discourse Analysis.

Born in Spain and educated in British schools Natalia is a native speaker of both Spanish and English. She handles most of our Spanish translations, and holds a Diploma in Translation, Institute of Linguists. She has more than 25 years of experience in translation, specializing in development, the environment and current affairs.

Born of Spanish parents, raised and educated in France, Isabelle is a bilingual native speaker of both Spanish and French. She is a professional translator, proofreader and interpreter, working from English into French and Spanish. She has significant project management experience and has worked as a coordinator of large translation projects in French, Spanish and Portuguese. Isabelle specializes in topics involving development and aid, human rights, the environment, and agriculture. She holds a Maîtrise in Applied Foreign Languages (AFL) from the University of Perpignan, France.

Simon founded Green Ink in 1998 to promote the communication of scientific knowledge related to agriculture in the developing world. Simon has retired from the business but as Green Ink’s President and Founder, Simon retains an advisory role. He holds a degree in Modern Languages.
