PROJECT

SHOWCASE

Titanic team effort

Client: UN Environment Programme (UNEP)

The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) undertook a gargantuan effort over a number of years to develop this high-profile and highly influential sixth Global Environment Outlook (GEO6). UNEP called on us to apply our editorial expertise in the final months and give this major report the full impact and maximum usability it deserved. Our scalable production was as vital as our technical expertise. The volumes of information put together by numerous teams of leading authors around the globe needed to be completed to the highest standards, just in time for the United Nations General Assembly. At some 700 pages across 25 chapters, each with dozens of infographics, our project manager drew on both our core team of editors to make substantive and structural edits, and our associates for later copy-editing and proofreading. See the results at https://tinyurl.com/UN-GEO6

Accessible and engaging published product

Client: African Climate and Development Initiative, University of Cape Town

For the ‘Insights from Africa’ report of the Fifth International Climate Change Adaptation Conference, we provided the full service of copy-editing, graphic design, layout and proofreading. You can see the engaging and enjoyable results at tinyurl.com/AdaptationFutures. We made sure the PDF report would work seamlessly with the session details and presentations provided at the conference website. Our design includes simple colour-coding to clearly mark out useful resources – definitions, case studies and existing ecosystem-based adaptation tools. Making technical information accessible is a core skill that runs through our editing and design teams.
