Adam Barclay joined us in 2010, after two years as a freelancer and five years with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). His specialist areas are Asian agriculture, rice production and genetics. Besides writing and editing, Adam has experience in managing media relations and is an accomplished photographer. He's based in Adelaide, Australia.

Elspeth Bartlet was Head of Science Communication at the UK's Rothamsted Research and then ran communications for a Gates-funded project at the University of York,  before joining Green Ink in 2011 in the newly created post of Communication Strategist. An experienced scientist as well as a skilled communicator, Elspeth is well placed to lead the provision of advice and training to our clients across the full range of communication activities, including media outreach, stakeholder engagement, publication evaluation, and Web2 development. Elspeth works from her home in Tadcaster, UK.

Heather Broad joined Green Ink in October 2011 and is our Finance and HR Administrator. She is responsible for keeping Green Ink's finances in order, having had experience in a variety of financial roles. Heather is based in South Devon, UK.

Christel Chater is a qualified graphic designer, working mostly on hard-copy products. Her specialisms are illustration and logo design. A fluent German speaker, Christel works from her home in Devon, UK.

Simon Chater is Green Ink's founder and director, with over 30 years' experience in communicating natural resources R&D. Besides developing the company, he writes and edits. He is also fluent in French. Simon works from his home in Devon, UK.

Sophie Higman is a qualified forestry scientist turned science writer and editor. She specializes in all areas of forestry, including its interaction with rural livelihoods and climate change. Additional skills include the use of social media. Sophie is fluent in Spanish, having spent much of her working life in Latin America. She works from her home in Leamington Spa, UK.

Emily Macleod is our human resources and business manager, tasked with keeping our team happy and productive. Specialist areas include setting up business and HR systems, performance evaluation and development, and diversity in the workplace. Emily is based in Exeter, UK.

Rebecca Mitchell is our project and team manager, responsible for costing and organizing our work. Her areas of specialism include editing, proofreading, print production and the management of multi-language editions. Becky works from her smallholding near Stellenbosch in South Africa.

Erin O'Connell had a successful career in medical writing before coming to Green Ink. Specialisms include human health and agriculture, animal and zoonotic diseases, and dryland biodiversity and livelihoods. Erin is also expert at writing for the web and reviewing websites for their user-friendliness. Fluent in French, she works from her apartment in Montreal, Canada.

Sue Parrott is an experienced writer in development-related fields. Topics covered include sustainable business models, water management, livestock production, integrated pest management and socio-economics, especially gender issues. Besides conventional writing, Sue offers live blogging at meetings and is proficient in layout. She lives and works in the tiny hamlet of Slow Ducks, in Devon, UK.

Nick Pasiecznik came to Green Ink in 2011, after a year with the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA). Specialisms include agroforestry, dryland agriculture and underused crops. He also has experience in training and mentoring. A fluent French speaker, Nick runs his own agroforestry smallholding in France in addition to writing and editing for Green Ink.

Tim Woods specializes in climate change and other natural resources issues. Before joining us in 2010, he worked for the UK's Institute of Development Studies (IDS), where he was natural resources editor for the id21 research reporting service. Besides writing and editing, Tim serves as our deputy project manager. He works from his home in Accra, Ghana.
