Media outreach

Our media outreach service is geared to achieving coverage for science stories. We have excellent science media contacts in the UK and a number of other countries.

Our direct involvement in media outreach covers such areas as drafting press releases, organizing press conferences and targeting specific stories for specific outlets. We can also help develop the media skills of your in-house team, with tailored training for both press officers and scientists. Lastly, we can help you formulate a media outreach strategy for your institute, programme, project or event.

Green Ink, along with the Wellcome trust, SciDevNet, Stempra and World Conference of Science Journalists (WCSJ), has supported production of the first ever Guide for African Science Media Officers. Previous work to improve science media coverage in Africa has focussed on the needs of researchers or journalists. This guide is part of a new initiative to help press and public relations practitioners working in health and other fields communicate the latest research effectively and responsibly. It addresses a gap in expertise identified by several sources as a barrier to effective coverage of African science and health issues.
