Meet the team
Leon Clifford is our managing director. A science graduate, Leon has worked as a magazine journalist and editor, senior media executive and management consultant. He has experience of hard copy, live event and digital media.
Rebecca Mitchell is head of client relations. She handles all our quoting and tendering and provides advice to our clients on how we can meet their needs. Becky has over 20 years of experience in all aspects of the publishing process – from editing through design and translation to print and web publication. She holds a UK national certificate in management.
Pete Christopher is our production manager and he is responsible for delivering projects. This involves managing the Green Ink production team and workflow, and ensuring clients are delighted with their end product. He has over 30 years of experience working in production management in the science, technical and medical (STM) and government sectors, and account management in the commercial sector. Pete also has a PRINCE2 project management qualification.
Markus has written a large body of health information and launch-edited a number of major health professional and patient information websites, including for charities. After studying biomedical science, he first developed his publishing career in numerous reporting, editing and managing roles on national weekly magazines for doctors. In his spare time, Markus continues his passion for photography, which he has often been commissioned to do professionally, and he is studying at the University of Edinburgh towards an MSc in science communication.
Guy Manners has a degree in zoology and was a freelance writer and editor specializing in agriculture before joining Green Ink in September 2012. He has since worked mainly on projects in crop science and production. He also contributes to company development and especially to the company’s flagship CSR project.
Sue Parrott is an experienced writer in development-related fields. Topics covered include sustainable business models, water management, livestock production, integrated pest management and socio-economics, especially gender issues. Besides conventional writing, Sue offers live blogging at meetings and is proficient in layout. She has a degree in environmental science.
Jane Patten, who joined Green Ink in 2012, has 15 years experience as a science writer, editor, researcher, analyst and translator, mainly in human health. Specialisms include mother and child health, women's and adolescent reproductive health and health technology assessment. Jane is fluent in Bahasa Indonesia, having spent a decade based in Bali before returning to the UK in 2011. She has a Masters in international public health.
Anne Sweetmore joined Green Ink in 2015, after 18 years as a publishing freelance specializing in agriculture and development, and also working in the fields of education and human health. Before going freelance she worked as a plant pathologist and as a publisher’s editor. Anne has an MSc in crop protection and is currently studying for an MA in communication for development.
Tim Woods writes and edits on natural resources issues, including conservation and climate change. Before joining us in 2010, Tim worked for the UK's Institute of Development Studies (IDS), where he was natural resources editor for the id21 research reporting service. He has a Masters in research, environment and development and a PRINCE2 management qualification.
Paul Philpot is a digital and design specialist as well as a photographer. Specialist areas include digital publishing, website design and coding, database development, and graphic design and layout. Paul has recently travelled widely in Asia to photograph project participants for our clients.

Heather Broad joined Green Ink in 2011 as our Finance and HR Administrator, a role similar to those she has played elsewhere in a career spanning 20 years. She is responsible for invoicing and keeping Green Ink's finances in order.

Business Support Assistant
Simon Chater is Green Ink's founder and was its sole director until May 2014, when he took semi-retirement. As Founding Director and Board Chair, he retains an advisory role and assists in business planning. He holds a degree in modern languages.
